Sallie Hofmeister — whom Weinstein hired from the crisis-management firm Sitrick four days after his scandal broke — has one of the most challenging and perhaps controversial jobs in having to speak to the media on Weinstein's behalf. But Hofmeister has experience being on the other side having, until 2013, worked at the Los Angeles Times as what The Cut describes as “a trailblazing woman who investigated powerful old men, and supported powerless young women.” In fact, Hofmeister’s reporting on complaints about “Queen of E!” CEO Mindy Herman's abuse of power and undignified behavior in 2004 resulted in an internal investigation and Herman resigning from her job.
