The Oscar-, Emmy- and Golden Globe-winning actress will play a a longtime liberal councilwoman named Arpi opposite Danson, who stars as a wealthy businessman who suddenly becomes mayor of Los Angeles. "Having dedicated her life to the betterment of Los Angeles, she makes no secret of her disdain for the newly elected Mayor Bremer, whom she considers unqualified, sexist and too tall to be trusted," according to NBC's description of her role. The Hollywood Reporter reports that the straight-to-series comedy from 30 Rock duo Tina Fey and Robert Carlock is being referred to inside NBC as The Mayor. Hunter is coming off a recurring role on HBO's Succession. She also starred in the short-lived HBO series Here and Now in 2018. Last month, Hunter was cast as Acting Attorney General Sally Yates in CBS Television Studios' James Comey miniseries.
