Garner has signed on for lead her second Apple limited series, taking over the lead role in The Last Thing He Told Me from Roberts, who had to pull out due to scheduling issues. Executive produced by Reese Witherspoon through her Hello Sunshine production company, The Last Thing He Told Me adaptation based on Laura Dave's novel of the same name follows a woman (Garner) who forms an unexpected relationship with her 16-year-old stepdaughter while searching for the truth about why her husband has mysteriously disappeared. This is Garner's second Apple TV+ role. In 2018, she signed on for a reunion with Alias creator J.J. Abrams on the Apple limited series My Glory Was I Had Such Friends. The Apple roles mark Garner's return to TV after starring in HBO's Camping in 2018.
