It's been six months since Kimmel did Jimmy Kimmel Live! from his Hollywood Blvd studio and three months since he last hosted his show before taking the summer off. “We had an audience, right? At one time there used to be people that would come to this room?,” he joked in his audience-free studio. Kimmel revealed that production had divided the working area into different zones, presumably to ensure social distancing, with all his crew members wearing face shields that make them look like Daft Punk. “I’m not sure if I’m hosting a show or boarding a Southwest airlines flight,” he said. Kimmel also poked fun at his lowest-rated Emmy ceremony: "Well, I hosted the virtual Emmys last night," he said. "They’re saying it was the highest-rated Emmys ever. Oh, the lowest? Oh, all right."
