After nearly 18 years and 3,130 episodes, Kimmel is taking a sabbatical from Jimmy Kimmel Live! Kimmel announced the news in his Thursday monologue featuring nemesis Matt Damon. “There’s nothing wrong, I’m healthy, my family’s healthy, I just need a couple of months off,” Kimmel said. After two weeks of reruns, Jimmy Kimmel Live! will return Monday, July 6 with "a cavalcade of very kind and capable people will be filling in," the show said in a statement. Kimmel has previously taken off a short amount of time with celebrity guests filling for his son Billy's surgery. No word on when Kimmel will return, but he's scheduled to host the Emmys on Sept. 20.
