The Black-ish creator is "making the leap from content creation to content ownership," reports Deadline's Nellie Andreeva, adding that Barris is in talks with ViacomCBS to jointly launch a studio that he'll have an equity stake in. "The deal with ViacomCBS would allow Barris to join the elite ranks of entertainment moguls," says Andreeva. "ViacomCBS also has a joint venture with Tyler Perry, who has ownership in the BET+ streaming platform. (Additionally, BET is BET+ are licensing programming produced by Tyler Perry Studios.)"
