The BBC America series' renewal comes the morning after the premiere of Season 2, which was ordered three days before Season 1 premiered. Additionally, Killing Eve will have its third (female) showrunner in three seasons. Creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge oversaw Season 1 before handing over the reins to Emerald Fennell for Season 2. Former Fear the Walking Dead writer Suzanne Heathcote will take over showrunner duties for Season 3. "I’m very excited that the Killing Eve baton is being passed onto another incredible writer for season three. We can sleep soundly knowing these characters are safe in Suzanne Heathcote’s hilariously murderous hands,” said Waller-Bridge in a statement. AMC Networks president Sarah Barnett said of the renewal, in a statement: "We adore this show as much as our fans do. Killing Eve doesn’t do anything in a templated way; we love giving opportunity to three genius women to make their mark.”
