"The comment I made about dance was insensitive, it was stupid and I am sorry," Spencer said this morning on Good Morning America in offering her second apology in as many days for offending male dancers with her mockery of Prince George taking up ballet lessons. Spencer's comment upset much of the dance world, from Debbie Allen to Nigel Lythgoe to Gene Kelly's widow, Patricia Ward Kelly. GMA aired a pre-taped segment showing Spencer speaking to three professional male dancers, who accepted her apology. “I spoke with several members of the dance community over the last few days," she said. "I have listened. I have learned about the bravery that it takes for a young boy to pursue a career in dance. And last night, I sat down with three influential dancers who lived it firsthand...I have learned about the bravery it takes for a young boy to pursue a career in dance. Spencer added that she hopes to “turn a negative into a teachable moment.”
