Buckner, the former Boston Red Sox player who became infamous for his 1986 World Series error, died Monday at age 69. Buckner got a chance to rectify his error in the 2011 Curb Your Enthusiasm "Mister Softee" episode, where he caught a baby from a burning building. “Very sweet, kind man,” David told MLB.com on Monday, responding to Buckner's death. “There was something about him that made me feel for the guy. What an awful thing to go through.” David added: "I saw that show in editing for weeks. And every time I watched it, whenever he caught that baby, I would well up. So glad I had the opportunity to get to know him. Not a mean bone in his body.”
