Trump held a rare solo press conference late this afternoon that was described as "rambling" and "rage-filled" and "memorably unhinged." Late Night writer Sal Gentile, who is in charge of Seth Meyers' "A Closer Look" segments, likely spoke for many late-night writers when he tweeted: "writers at late night shows when trump holds a press conference half an hour before taping" while retweeting an old Lady Gaga exasperation tweet. Jimmy Kimmel also weighed in: "This is the very definition of "ranting and raving". This man should be on a street corner shouting at cars." UPDATE: Late Show with Stephen Colbert writer Ariel Dumas tweets: "I hope you watch @colbertlateshow tonight! The entire staff scrambled to get that batsh*t crazy presser in the show. Brilliant teamwork and hustle from everyone in every department. That nonsense barrage was STILL happening when @StephenAtHome walked onstage, but we did it!" SECOND UPDATE: Late Night executive producer Mike Shoemaker tweets: "That Trump press conference went from 5pm to eternity and we tape at 6:30 but still the Closer Look team managed to get some of the insanity in for tonight. Shout out to all of them and MVP @salgentile."
