Variety, which first broke the news that the Russian Doll co-creator was developing a female-centric Star Wars series for Disney+, posted an interview it conducted with Headland at The Rise of Skywalker premiere last December. "I am the type of Star Wars fan who doesn't have a favorite movie. I just want to live in the universe of Star Wars continually, in perpetuity, forever," she said at the time. "So when people are like, 'What's your favorite Star Wars movie?' I'm like, 'There is no Star Wars movie. There is only Star Wars." When asked when she'll write a Star Wars movie, Headland turned to the camera and said "please" to "Queen" Kathleen Kennedy that it actually happen. "I think I've had ideas for Star Wars movies since I was 13 years old. Maybe 8 years old," she said.
