The Saturday Night Live honcho explains why he hired Davidson in 2014 when he wasn't oldest enough to legally drink: "He has enormous charm on camera and audiences connect to him, and there's an honesty to him," he said in a GQ profile of Davidson. Michaels admitted he thought Davidson was too young, but "we've certainly made it work, and as we tend to say, I think he's the real thing." Meanwhile, Davidson thinks he's only being profiled by GQ because of his engagement to Ariana Grande: "It's all bullsh*t. GQ wouldn't hit me up if I didn't recently get engaged to a super-famous person," he said.
