Rudolph's name immediately trended on Twitter minutes after Biden selected the U.S. senator from California to be his running mate. Rudolph, whose SNL impression of Harris in the Democratic debates last year landed her one of her three recent Emmy nominations, was recording a panel discussion with fellow Emmy nominees for EW when the news broke this afternoon. "Oh sh*t. Ruh-roh," Rudolph said. She then went on to address the likelihood that she'll reprise her Harris role this fall on SNL. "I love going to the show any excuse I can get...I just didn't really anticipate traveling during this pandemic, but if there's anyone who can work it out I'm sure Lorne (Michaels) has some kind of invisible helicopter that can get me there," she said. "Ever since I was a kid truly I wanted be on any kind of SCTV, Saturday Night Live, and I can't believe that I got to work there and I can't believe that it's my family still and I'm so thrilled that I got to go back. It's my favorite place to play." Rudolph's last tweet, from September 2019, was in reaction to Harris tweeting about being impersonated on SNL. "That girl being played by @MayaRudolph on @nbcsnl? That girl was me," tweeted Harris. "YES SHE WAS SENATOR HARRIS!!!" Rudolph responded. Last week, Rudolph told Variety her respect and admiration for Harris allowed her to “poke fun at the entire thing as a whole.” “My aim and my interest has never been to go after people,” said Rudolph. “I like to look for the joy and the fun and the game in something they say or do or mannerisms that make it that make you want to join in on the joke.”
