Tirico, who is expected to take over the SNF booth when the 75-year-old Michaels retires, will do play-by-play on three to five Sunday games this season as Michaels takes what NBC is calling "bye weeks." "This is a great schedule for me,” Michaels tells the New York Post via text. “A lot of West Coast games and a couple of byes during the season to cut down on some travel, which is welcome for me. I was part of formulating the plan. I’m all in.” As for the SNF broadcast, the Post's Andrew Marchand reports that the famous “Collinsworth slide,” where Cris Collinsworth joins Michaels at the beginning of broadcasts, is “on hold” for now because the booth will have social distancing rules.
