The massive renewal is part of a mega-deal NBC Universal has signed with Wolf. The three-season pickup for Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which is now in its 21st season, means it will make it to Season 24 after breaking Gunsmoke's 20-season record for longest-running drama series. As Deadline notes, "this season also marks a milestone for (Mariska) Hargitay whose Lt. Benson became the longest-running character in a primetime live-action series, surpassing Gunsmoke‘s James Arness and Milburn Stone as well as Kelsey Grammer’s Frasier Crane." Wolf's mega-deal also means Chicago Fire will reach Season 11, Chicago P.D. will hit Season 10 and Chicago Med will make it to Season 8.
