The 1980s CBS sitcom starring Susan Saint James and Jane Curtin as divorced women, each with children, who decide to live together is getting a modern update on NBC, which had given the potential series a put pilot order. The updated version will revolve around two women who are described as being "like sister wives, only they don’t have to pretend to love the same man with bad hair. Through their unconventional arrangement, the two prove romance isn’t necessary to be a successful woman and mother." The reboot is from Erica Oyama, a writer-producer on Young Rock, Never Have I Ever and Fresh Off the Boat. Young Rock co-creator and Fresh Off the Boat creator Nahnatchka Khan will serve as executive producer. Created by Sherry Coben, Kate & Allie aired on CBS for six seasons and 122 episodes between 1984 and 1989. It was in the Top 10 in its first season and in the Top 20 in its first four seasons. Kate & Allie was nominated three times for the Emmy for Outstanding Comedy Series. Curtin earned two Emmys in three nominations for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series.
