Six studios have been courting Benioff and Weiss for a new overall deal to write, produce and direct TV series and films. Netflix beat out Amazon, Comcast, Disney, Apple and the duo's previous home of HBO/WarnerMedia. Benioff and Weiss' deal with Netflix also means that their controversial alt-history series Confederate is almost certainly dead. “I think anything they have with us would likely not go forward” once the pair signs an overall deal elsewhere, HBO programming president Casey Bloys told Deadline last month.
