Last year, HBO earned a record 137 nominations, the most for a single year. This year, Netflix easily topped that, with 160 total nominations vs. 107 for the Game of Thrones-less HBO. Netflix earned nominations in 10 of the 11 major categories this year. This is only the second time in the last 21 years that HBO wasn't No. 1 among all networks. In 2018, Netflix broke HBO's 17-year streak of being No. 1 in Emmy nominations. HBO, however, was No. 1 when it came to the most-nominated program. Watchmen earned 26 nominations, followed by The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel's 20, Ozark and Succession's 18, The Mandalorian, SNL and Schitt's Creek's 15, The Crown's 13, Hollywood's 12 and Westworld's 11 nods. Thanks to Game of Thrones and Veep ending their respective runs last year, this year's Emmys field was considered more wide open.
