Justin Johnson, known for playing RuPaul’s Drag Race "country-fried" drag queen Alyssa Edwards, is followed around for his docuseries as the owner of a dance studio in Mesquite, Texas. The problem is he's great at being a reality star, but not the other subjects of Dancing Queen. "Johnson, having trained in the art of personification, can handle the artifice of reality TV; these other folks can't," says Robyn Bahr. "There's always a certain stunted, hokey filmic language to 'unscripted' television, but these girls and their moms too obviously reveal the cracks of being produced." ALSO: Alyssa Edwards says "it’s important for me to be authentically, genuinely, and unapologetically myself."
