When Carol's Second Act was picked up to series earlier this year, the cast and crew went out to dinner. Afterwards, David Hunt, who's been married to Heaton since 1990, initiated a hug on a junior female writer that made her feel uncomfortable, according to Deadline. The writer reported it to to a senior female writer, who alerted the series creators, executive producers and showrunners Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins. They reported it to the production company and CBS TV Studios, which responded with an HR investigation. Following the investigation, Hunt underwent sensitivity/sexual harassment training, but retained his role as an executive producer. Yet the junior female writer who was the target of the alleged unwanted hug and the senior female writer she reported it to have opted to leave the series. CBS TV Studios said in a statement "the matter was promptly investigated by Human Resources and appropriate action was taken to address the complaint."
