President Trump to announce the “Dishonest Media Awards” the day after the Golden Globes

The president announced Tuesday night he’s coming out with his own awards ceremony, which the cable news networks will presumably cover live on Monday. “I will be announcing THE MOST DISHONEST & CORRUPT MEDIA AWARDS OF THE YEAR on Monday at 5:00 o’clock,” Trump tweeted. “Subjects will cover Dishonesty & Bad Reporting in various categories from the Fake News Media. Stay tuned!” As Lisa de Moraes points out, Trump is “no doubt anticipating more blow-back in his general direction at Sundays sure-to-be-highly-charged Golden Globe Awards." At last year's Globes ceremony, Meryl Streep denounced Trump without mentioning his name, prompting the then-president-elect to call her “one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood."
