Since Big Little Lies won eight Emmy Awards last September, Witherspoon has made deals to produce three TV series for Apple — including one she’s starring in with Jennifer Aniston — and her Hello Sunshine production company has potential series in the running at ABC and NBC. “It opened a lot of doors for me,” Witherspoon says of the massive Emmy victory in an interview with the New York Times. “People wanted to be in business with me as a producer in the TV space. My mission was to create television for other women, for other female storytellers that are actresses, other directors and other writers. I think it just clicked in people’s minds.” The Times’ John Koblin says Witherspoon’s TV producing work “puts her in the company of series creators like Dick Wolf, Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy.” “Reese has been very smart about what she wants to do," says Rhimes. "She has leveraged her power in a very smart way to get big projects done. She knows what she’s doing.”
