Richard Gere is set to star in an Apple drama remake of Israeli drama Bastards

Gere, who recently began filming his first major TV role with BBC's MotherFatherSon, is closing in on a deal to star in an American remake of the Israeli TV drama Bastards from former 24 showrunner Howard Gordon and former Law & Order: SVU boss Warren Leight. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the untitled eight-episode series "revolves around two elderly Vietnam vets and best friends who find their monotonous lives upended when a woman they both loved 50 years ago is killed by a car. Their lifelong regrets and secrets collide with their resentment of today’s self-absorbed millennials, and an act of self-defense snowballs into a tragic series of events."
