Ricky Velez now has a Judd Apatow-produced HBO comedy pilot and HBO standup special in the works

Velez is teaming on his third project with Apatow after starring in The King of Staten Island and signing on for an Apatow-produced HBO comedy special. Velez will co-write the pilot with Apatow and Judah Miller after all three worked together on The King of Staten Island. “Judd, Judah and HBO have all produced some of my favorite television,” Velez said. “Getting the opportunity to work with them together is mind-blowing. In the words of Nas, ‘Queens get the money’.” Velez is best known for contributing to The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore.
