Johnny Lowe, who recurred on Rob Lowe's Fox comedy The Grinder and who's become known in recent months for roasting his dad on Instagram, makes his TV-writing debut with tonight's episode of the 9-1-1 spinoff. Lowe tells TVLine "I was willing to cross that bridge if it came up," referring to a potential love scene between his dad and guest-star Natalie Zea. “Fortunately, I was given the space to explore the characters’ relationships through their friendships more through their (romantic connections)." Johnny Lowe, who also goes by John Owen Lowe, says he offered his fellow writers special insight into his dad. “When we were still getting a feel for the actors and their characters, there were moments when people would ask me things like, ‘Do you think your dad would be OK taking his shirt off in this scene?'” Lowe recalls. “And I was just like, ‘He’d be into it. Trust me.'”
