Saturday Night Live’s attempt to turn humor out of the scandal that has rocked Hollywood was called “weak” and not funny at all. Yet SNL was also praised for its deft insults of Weinstein, and for having “nailed home some decent blows.” According to L.A. Ross, the first sketch taking on the Weinstein scandal was “cringeworthy at best.” Ross adds: “Trying to make light of a horrific situation is a tricky needle to thread, especially when the wounds are so fresh. In this case, SNL might've been better served by simply admitting that this is no laughing matter.”
