Lydon had intended to veto using the Sex Pistols' music in Boyle's biographical series on the band, based on guitarist Steve Jones' memoir. But Lydon and surviving bandmates Jones and drummer Paul Cook signed an agreement in 1988 that a majority of the band gets to decide whether their music could be licensed. Lydon argued the contract had never been adhered to and any request for licenses were therefore subject to members’ individual vetoes. A judge recently reaffirmed the contract when Jones and Cook took the dispute to London’s High Court.
