Vergara is joining AGT as a judge on the heels of finishing her 11-season run on ABC's Modern Family. Klum, who served as an AGT judge from 2013 and 2018 and recently as a judge on America's Got Talent: The Champions, returns to AGT after one season off. Klum and Mel B exited AGT after the 2018 season and were replaced last season by Gabrielle Union and Julianne Hough, who were fired amid controversy last November. “I’m so happy to join my new family on AGT," Vergara said in a statement. “This is a new and exciting next chapter for me and I’m extremely proud to be the first Latin judge on the show. I can’t wait to watch all the talent and have fun with all you guys!” Klum added in a statement: “I’m so excited to be back at AGT with Simon (Cowell), Howie (Mandel) and Terry (Crews). The fact that Sofia Vergara is joining us is the icing on an already delicious cake.”
