The sequel series to Daveed Diggs and Rafael Casal's 2018 movie, starring Jasmine Cephas Jones, wanted to ensure that it was filmed on location in Oakland -- but that has come with certain challenges. Currently, the show is wrapping production in Los Angeles to begin shooting in the Bay Area in March. But because the Bay Area doesn't allow indoor shooting, Casal says the crew built all of Blindspotting’s interiors on a set where they could remove walls and ventilate rooms between takes. The show also has a dedicated COVID compliance unit. “You wouldn’t believe all of the obstacles. The way television was done before is out the window, and every seemingly easy choice has a ton of complications,” said Casal. “(We’re) constantly problem-solving the unpredictable and finding ways to stay true to the story.”
