The Think Tank for Inclusion and Equity surveyed TV writers who are female, non-binary, LGBTQ, people of color and/or people with disabilities. "The report reveals that many of these hires fall into 'checking the box' for diversity hire but do not provide ample opportunities for these writers to advance their careers," according to Variety. About 58% of respondents report experiencing microaggressions after pitching non-stereotypical content. The study found that 61% reported working with showrunners who were resistant to diversifying storylines.
