San Diego State University’s Center for the Study of Women in Television and Film's study found that women comprised 52% of major on streaming services compared to 45% on broadcast networks. The study covered dramas, comedies and reality shows. The study also found more offscreen inclusion for women in streaming, accounting for 30% of creators, 31% of directors and 24% of editors, compared to 22%, 19% and 15%, respectively, at the networks. The study, however, found that broadcast networks performed better with the inclusion of Black women and Latina speaking characters.
