TV Academy changes Emmy rules to clamp down on category-switching TV shows

From now on, TV shows can only switch categories just once. For instance, Orange Is the New Black, which started off competing as a comedy before switching to a drama, can no longer return to competing as a comedy. As the TV Academy explains, “A program that has entered in one category one year may appeal to move it to another category in any subsequent year, with the understanding that the change locks it into that category without the opportunity for another recategorization.”
