The CW has ordered a new take on the USA sci-fi series that aired for four seasons from 2004 through 2007 with a cast that included future Oscar winner Mahershala Ali. The 4400 reboot has been in the works since November 2018. In The 4400, written by Riverdale co-executive producer Ariana Jackson, "4400 overlooked, undervalued, or otherwise marginalized people who vanished without a trace over the last hundred years are all returned in an instant, having not aged a day and with no memory of what happened to them," per The CW. "As the government races to analyze the potential threat and contain the story, the 4400 themselves must grapple with the fact that they’ve been returned with a few…upgrades, and the increasing likelihood that they were all brought back now for a specific reason." The CW chairman Mark Pedowitz has been high on The 4400 reboot, even as it underwent multiple cycles with different writers.
