Showrunner Caroline Dries broke the news that the Javicia Leslie-led superhero series has been canceled. "Just got the sad news that #Batwoman will not be seeing an S4," Dries tweeted. "I am bummed, but full of gratitude. What an honor to make 51 episodes. So many inspiring, brilliant people contributed to this series. Thank you producers, cast and crew. Thank you, fans! We love you." Batwoman was averaging 760,000 total viewers this season, counting DVR viewers. Batwoman premiered in 2019 with Ruby Rose starring in the title role, with Leslie succeeding her in the title role, but as a different character, for Seasons 2 and 3.
