It's been a decade since The CW programmed Sunday nights. In 2008, the network outsourced its Sunday timeslot to Media Rights Capital, an experiment that failed after one year. So The CW gave Sunday primetime to its affiliates in 2009. Now with a record nine pilots ordered, The CW has struck a deal with its affiliates to take back Sunday nights. "By expanding to six nights, The CW is now able to give our fans even more of the series they’re so passionate about," says CW president Mark Pedowitz. "Broadcasting remains the foundation of our multi-platform approach to bringing our programming to viewers."
