John Goodman, Sara Gilbert, Laurie Metcalf and Lecy Goranson have already signed on for Season 3, even though ABC has yet to hand out a formal renewal. Meanwhile, Goodman has The Righteous Gemstones, Emma Kenney is now a co-lead on Shameless and Katey Sagal is the star of an ABC pilot, Rebel, that has yet to be filmed due to coronavirus. "Some of the complications just go away," says Helford of his actors' outside gigs, noting that The Conners is in first position to Goodman's Righteous Gemstones role.
