But due to the way TV’s awards calendar is increasingly turning the spring into the medium’s equivalent of Oscar season — the better to qualify at the last minute for the Emmys — the Globes (which take the full calendar year into account) increasingly have to follow the lead of the Television Academy, as they did in rewarding both Big Little Lies and The Handmaid’s Tale.”
