The Roseanne revival aims to bring an “honest family” back to television — “something that doesn’t really exist on TV anymore”

Executive producer Bruce Helford, a former Roseanne writer who went on to co-create The Drew Carey Show, runs the revival's writers' room featuring such big names as Wanda Sykes, Whitney Cummings, former Roseanne writer Norm Macdonald and Roseanne Barr herself. “We want everybody to see something that doesn’t really exist on TV anymore, which is an honest family,” he says. “There’s not much of that.
