The Voice kicks off remote live shows on Monday, with Carson Daly hosting from an empty studio

For the final rounds, the NBC singing competition will follow a similar path as American Idol and have Kelly Clarkson, Nick Jonas, John Legend and Blake Shelton remotely judge the singers from their homes. The Top 17 contestants will pre-record their performances from their respective homes for the live shows. Unlike Ryan Seacrest, who hosted Idol from his house, Carson Daly will host from The Voice's empty studio with a skeleton crew abiding by social distancing protocols. "The Voice will be recorded across two soundstages at Universal Studios with around 30 crew, compared to the normal 450," reports Deadline. "Each employee will have their temperature tested twice during the day and will receive two separate bracelets to show that they are healthy. They will be required to wear masks with filters on the stages replaced and craft services reinvented to ensure safety." According to The Hollywood Reporter, "the show sent production kits with camera and audio equipment to each artist and provided wardrobe and guidance on choreography and art direction to help enhance performances. 'Mega mentor' James Taylor will kick off Monday's show with a performance of his own." The Voice showrunner Audrey Morrissey says of the remote live shows: "Reinventing the live shows has allowed us to create innovative ways to bring The Voice to life in a fresh and intimate way. It has been an incredible team effort with the coaches, artists and their loved ones being involved in the process. With Carson at the helm from the stage, we are excited to share a unique Voice experience that will feel both new and familiar."
