Allen addressed his character's politics hours after Fox said that Last Man Standing wouldn't immediately reveal whether he is a Trump supporter. “This guy’s a practical guy… if it’s helping his business, I think he’s probably pro-Trump. (But) he probably doesn't defend him," Allen said at the TV press tour while promoting his sitcom's Fox revival. Allen also admitted that he and the writers were disappointed that Hillary Clinton lost. “We had a bank of stuff” already written for a Clinton presidency, he said, adding jokingly: "pantsuit stuff." Allen emphasized that Last Man Standing isn't necessarily a conservative sitcom. “We want both sides to think it’s funny," he said.
