Stuber screenwriter Tripper Clancey will pen the remake of the 1999 James Van Der Beek film about a high school football team and their battles with a demanding coach. "For all those who cheered Mox's refrain, 'I don't want your life,' as well as all those who never heard of the West Canaan Coyotes, we're thrilled to bring Varsity Blues to Quibi and into the 21st century!" said producer Mike Tollin in a statement. Tollin and Tova Laiter will serve as executive producers after producing the 1999 movie. This is the latest attempt to bring Varsity Blues to the small screen. In 2016, CMT was working on an adaptation with W. Peter Iliff, who penned the original film.
