Why did NBC air a promo last night featuring Lawrence Taylor, a registered sex offender?

NBC's Sunday Night Football used Taylor and the QB whose career he ended, Joe Theismann, to promote NBC’s Thanksgiving Thursday Night Football game. But with sexual misconduct all over the news, Chris Thompson found it a poor choice, noting that Taylor was once “charged with third-degree rape, patronizing a prostitute, sexual abuse, and endangering a child, after he had sex with a 16-year-old who’d been delivered to him against her will by a pimp, who’d punched her in the face in order to secure her compliance.”
