BBC Culture's list was the result of a survey of 206 TV experts from 43 countries. Yet only three unscripted shows made the list: natural history series Planet Earth, documentary OJ: Made in America and reality show RuPaul’s Drag Race. "I like Drag Race, which has done a lot for queer representation and just the elevation of an art form, and has had some great seasons, but is it the best-produced show to have premiered in the past 21 years? That’s a no for me," says Reality Blurred's Andy Dehnart. He points to The Great British Bake Off, Survivor and Top Chef as among the reality shows that should've made the list.
