So far this week, Trump has been raging at Stahl after cutting his interview with her short on Tuesday and Dr. Anthony Fauci, whom he reportedly thinks is auditioning for a CNN gig. Hours after his 60 Minutes interview, Trump went after Stahl at a campaign rally. “You have to watch what we do to 60 Minutes,” Trump seethed. “You'll get such a kick out of it. You're gonna get a kick out of it. Lesley Stahl is not gonna be happy." His attacks may seem bizarre, "but in a very real sense people such as Stahl and Fauci actually are the chief opponents Trump must contend with in the campaign’s final days," says Greg Sargent. "They are the figures he perceives to be standing in the way of his effort to conduct this campaign in an entirely invented universe that he’d hoped to manufacture for this very purpose." Stahl reportedly aggressively questioned Trump about his attacks on Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, his disputes with Fauci and the lack of verification of the Hunter Biden and Obama administration Spygate scandals. "Why might this have enraged Trump?" says Sargent. "Because Trump has gone to tremendous lengths to manufacture precisely the illusions that Stahl apparently sought to puncture, yet these efforts are failing." ALSO: President Trump was reportedly "steaming mad" about the 60 Minutes interview at the Eric Bolling-moderated Sinclair town hall, where he enjoyed a friendly chat.
