Zach Galifianakis recalls his humiliating two weeks as an SNL writer in 2000

Galifiankis said in an interview with Off Camera with Sam Jones that he was hired as a writer on a trial basis for two episodes. But his brief tenure ended after writing a sketch for host/musical guest Britney Spears in which Will Ferrell would play the bodyguard to her bellybutton. He remembers the sketch being greeted with silence at the table read while then-head writer Tina Fey offered a few comforting words.
