Sean Penn calls Jennifer Lawrence the "last movie star", says hasn't seen a Timothée Chalamet movie yet

Sean Penn, in his recent appearances on "The Louis Theroux," podcast, praised Jennifer Lawrence, dubbing her with an unique epithet. In his conversation with host Louis Theroux, the "Interpreter "actor expressed admiration for some of his fellow actors, particularly Jennifer Lawrence. He said:

"She’s probably the last movie star.”

Sean Penn was also full of praise for Tom Cruise, whose new movie, "Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning," premiered in Tokyo earlier this month, and he now enjoys success from the worldwide release of the latest and final installment of the much loved franchise.

In his appearance on the "The Louis Theroux," podcast, Sean Penn discussed how, according to him, the industry has stopped creating real movie stars, adding that the line stopped with Jennifer Lawrence.

“I think the movie star manufacturer ran out around Jennifer Lawrence time or something."

Although in the interview, Sean Penn did add that there are some younger actors whose performence does leave him questioning about his own career longetivity. He said:

“I see some performances from some young actors where I feel like I should quit and become an accountant because they are so good,” 

Soon after this, Louis Theroux asked if he was reffering to Timothee Chalamet, who has been dubbed by many as the next big thing in Hollywood. But the "Fair Game" actor noted that he had not yet watched his movies, particularly reffering to Timothee Chalamet's recent movie, "A complete Unknown," which earned quite the Oscar buzz earlier this year and earned Chalamet a Best Actor nomination at the Academy Awards, which he ultimately lost to Adrien Brody. Timothee Chalamet had earlier won the SAG Award for his portrayal of Bob Dylan in this movie.

Sean Penn said:

“I haven’t seen that movie yet. I haven’t seen his movies yet.”

Apart from Jennifer Lawrence, and Timothee Chalamet, Sean Penn also spoke at length about Tom Cruise, highlighting his unwavering dedication to his craft. He said:

"He is a guy who pursues excellence on a very high level. This is a very good actor who’s also an extraordinarily committed craftsman."

He further added that Tom Cruise' ingenuity stems from the fact that he performs his own stunts, consistently raising the bar with each film. He said:

"He’s probably the best stuntman in the movie world. When it comes to the amount of skills he has and what he can do, and maybe he’s the most experienced in things because they’re choreographing things for him to do that nobody’s ever been able to afford to put another stuntman to test on.”

During Sean Penn's appearance on "The Louis Theroux" podcast, which is available to stream on Spotify, he also talked about his marriage to Madonna, the current political climate in the country and, unknown stories from his early career.
