A Frasier Sequel is Officially Happening at Paramount+

It's been 18 years since the series aired its final episode, but Frasier is officially getting a sequel.

The Cheers spinoff sequel will see Kelsey Grammer reprise his role as psychiatrist-turned-radio host Frasier Crane as he navigates life in a new city.

Few details are known about the series so far except that Frasier will be surrounded by new characters (though original cast members could make guest appearances). The sequel series will be helmed by writers Chris Harris (How I Met Your Mother) and Joe Cristalli (Life in Pieces). 

Back in July, Grammer revealed that writing for the new series was underway. "I've had a couple of runs through it, and I cried, so I’m happy," he said. Paramount+ announced that the sequel was in development back in February 2021, but this annoucement marks an official green light for the series, which will likely have a 10-episode season. A premiere date has not been announced yet. 

The original Frasier series ran for 11 seasons on NBC and earned a record-breaking 37 Emmy Awards during its tenure.
