Adam Levine, who has led Maroon 5 for many years, said he might be finished with getting tattoos. In an interview with Today.com on July 11, the 46-year-old singer looked back on his many tattoos and mentioned he might stop adding to them.

Levine shared that his latest tattoo involved redoing the sleeve on his left arm. He explained how he layered a fresh design over the old one, joking,

"I covered up my sleeve with another sleeve. Who does that? What is wrong with me? Psychotic," said Levine.

The singer admitted he once enjoyed getting tattoos, but now the pain bothers him much more than before.

"Now, I've softened," he said. "Now, when I get a tattoo, I'm like, 'This hurts so badly.'"

When asked about his favorite tattoo, Levine mentioned it was tough to pick just one, he pointed to the tattoos on his hands. The words “true love” are written across his fingers, which he said hold deep meaning for him. This shows a notable change from what he said back in 2013 during an interview with PEOPLE. That year when the magazine named him the Sexiest Man Alive, Levine shared that he avoided getting hand tattoos. He described his hands as “sacred” and important to his creativity.

"I don't do below the waist. You can't do the hands, that's sacred too, that's what you make things with, I'm tied to my hands. I just can't do hands," he said back then.

Levine talked about the story behind his first tattoo, a dove on his left bicep. He got it at 21 just days after the September 11 attacks. He explained that he wanted something peaceful on his body to express how he felt.

Though Levine may be slowing down with tattoos, he remains focused on his music. Maroon 5 will drop their new album, Love Is Like, on August 15. He first teased this during an April appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, mentioning that the band aims to tour later this year.

Levine seems to be concentrating on creating new music wrapping up any plans to get more tattoos.
