Prime Video Launches New Interface With Top 10 List, Live TV, and Sports Hub

The platform's redesign launched on Monday.
  • Amazon's Prime Video is getting a much-needed refresh, with a new interface intended to make the site more user-friendly.

Starting Monday, Prime Video subscribers will see a new design that features an updated navigation menu, scrollable titles, live TV, and a new hub for sports.

In the new navigation menu, users will be able to access a vertical sidebar with a search function, live TV, sports, Freevee content, the Prime Video store, and their watchlist, while still being able to quickly return to the homepage. The vertical sidebar will be similar to those on Netflix, Disney+, HBO Max, and Paramount+.

However, Prime Video's sidebar does not let users jump to the different categories like "movies," "TV shows," or "sports." Instead, those can be accessed using the horizontal menu bar on the home page.

With scrollable titles, users will be able to expand tiles into landscape mode as they scroll so they can see more information about each show or movie. There are also larger carousels, which Prime Video is calling "Super Carousels," throughout, allowing the streamer to advertise their featured content.

Prime Video is also introducing a "Top 10" feature, much like Netflix, so users can see the most popular originals on the streamer.

The streamer is also addressing user complaints that it's not always clear whether a title on the platform is included for free with subscription or requires purchase. Now, though, there will be a clear line of text saying "Included with Prime," along with a blue checkmark underneath each title that is included with a subscription. If a title requires additional payment, there will be a line of text indicating that, along with a small gold shopping bag icon.

Live TV is also getting a section on Prime Video, with a program guide of virtual channels that have been available on Prime Video for about two years now.

The final major area of improvement is the sports hub, which offers new landing pages showing all of Prime Video's sports offerings, as well as everything available on other apps.
