It's been almost 20 years since Facebook's founding, and the social media network has impacted society in profound ways. Now, in advance of the 20th anniversary, BBC Factual has commissioned a three-part Mark Zuckerberg documentary to chart the the journey of Facebook and its billionaire founder.
Tentatively titled Zuckerberg, the documentary will examine everything from Facebook's founding on February 4, 2004 — when a teenage Zuckerberg launched the site for college students to connect with one another — to its evolution under parent company Meta.
According to Variety, Zuckerberg will feature insider testimony, personal journals, and archival material from the past 20 years.
"The remarkable story of Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook is one of the tales of our time," said executive producer Nancy Strang. "He has arguably done more to transform human behavior and connectivity than any other person this century. I'm thrilled that we've been given this opportunity to tell the extraordinary inside story of the social media giant, and the man behind it."
A release date for Zuckerberg has not yet been announced, but an early 2024 premiere seems likely.
